| Our History | | Project LEAD (Leadership, Education, Adventure and Determination) was created in 1996 as a joint effort between Saint Paul Public Schools Alternative Learning Centers and Concordia University, Saint Paul. Although no longer affiliated with Concordia, LEAD was created to provide unique academic opportunities for Saint Paul's at-risk youth through outdoor expeditionary learning. Today, the program uses innovative approaches to education, fosters positive relationships, stewardship with the environment, and essential leadership skills to address required graduation standards in non-traditional ways. The focus on team work, experiential learning and outdoor education in a small, single classroom setting provides a unique high school experience for students who did not find success in traditional high schools.
